I began keeping bees in 2016 in my hometown Eindhoven, NL. What began as curiosity grew into a long-term practice rooted in care, observation, and inspiration.
Beekeeping, for me, is not only about extraction but became more about attention. It is a practice of listening, reading weather, bloom cycles, scent, sound, and behavior. The bees teach patience, presence and balance.
Working with colonies through the seasons has shaped the way I understand making. Wax, propolis, pollen, and honey are not materials to be taken for granted; they are traces of collective labor, ecology, and time. I work with what the bees can spare, allowing the hive to remain whole and resilient.
This beekeeping practice runs parallel to my studio work. It informs how I think about color, structure, repetition, and collaboration. The hive is both teacher and collaborator, an ever-changing archive of place that has grounded my work.
